|
A case of bilateral pneumothorax following emergency tracheotomy is presented. Tracheotomy was performed in an emergency condition to a patient during induction phase of anaesthesia for direct laryngoscopy because of difficulty in entubation. After that bilateral pneumothorax were developed. In spite of bilateral chest tubes, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) like condition and sepsis developed. After the initial response to the therapy the patient was lost on the fifteenth day because of cardiopulmonary arrest. Because of this case the complications of emergency tracheotomy were reviewed. |
